Two Pilots from the 2nd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment were shot down by a large bandit group based in Chernogorsk during a humanitarian aid mission in the area.

According to our latest sources, Rangers from 2nd Bn/75th Ranger Regiment rescued the pilots and neutralized the enemy forces within the city, taking two reported casualties, Sergeant First Class Zag and Warrant Officer Cadet Rosefire.
Col. Travis L. McIntosh (current commander of the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade) gave a statement yesterday acknowledging the crisis but states that the situation has been resolved.

“Captain Alexander Davis and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Gillian Patel were shot down during a flight to provide food and water to local civilians in the area when they were engaged by an anti-aircraft gun within the city, however, due to their stellar flying and the quick response from the Army Rangers of C Coy, 2nd Ranger Battalion, both pilots were rescued with non-life threatening injuries.”

While this was presented as a victory for the US Forces involved, we can’t help but question what allowed this to happen. How did local “bandits” get hold of a functioning anti-aircraft gun? Does this suggest that the Coalition’s control of the CEZ isn’t as secure as we have been led to believe?

While not fully confirmed, we have received reports from locals of a third-party force operating in the CEZ, dressed in full black and brandishing equipment similar to the US or NATO. We have reached out to several spokespeople from NATO and Russia and have not received any confirmations or denials that this force is a friend or foe.

Combine this with the recent increase of violent action in the CEZ, concerns over the quarantine being broken by force are starting to rise to the surface and the UN held an emergency meeting this morning to discuss the matter and find a course of action.

The UN Council agreed almost unanimously to deploy more units to the staging area around the CEZ to act as a reserve force for the current units stationed there. The United States will send the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, the Chernarus Defense Force will re-activate the 7th Motorized Brigade, and Russia will send elements of the 2nd Guards Motor Rifle Division.
