MH-60M DAP Blackhawk from 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, attached to 2nd Ranger Battalion, taking off during a night raid in Chernarus.
AAN World News Reporter, Stefan Schneider, was killed after being embedded with Rangers from 2nd Ranger Battalion.
Schneider requested to be sent to the front to gather up-to-date information on the conflict and was warned by US Army officials of the risk, but his commitment to journalism compelled him to go.
Unfortunately, during a raid on enemy positions, Schneider became separated from his escort team and was fatally wounded by enemy fire. We have recovered footage from his camera and we will be sharing all the photos he took during his time in the zone, except those deemed classified by the US Department of Defense.

US Army Rangers from Charlie Company, 2nd Ranger Battalion assault an enemy-occupied compound during a raid in the Chernarus Exclusion Zone.
Additionally, based on evidence from Stefan Schneider, it is confirmed that the third party group in the CEZ is in fact hostile and is going under the codename “Onyx” by coalition forces. There are limited leads on who this group is or what their goals are.
The group that Stefan was embedded with was conducting a raid on this Onyx group and during the mission, they found a hidden research center within the forests of Chernarus. From what the DoD has shared they appeared to be studying the Anomalies of the Zone.
Stefan and the Army Rangers he was attached to encountered anomalies during their mission, in his notes he wrote:
“We were walking through the forest, towards our next objective, and I heard these faint whispers. Suddenly, we were attacked from multiple sides; this pitch-black, humanoid creature with red eyes teleported around us, wounding me and multiple others. Rangers engaged the monster and after a few rounds, it exploded into a puff of black smoke. It was like nothing I’ve ever seen.”
Despite this loss to our crew, we will continue to cover the latest news regarding the Chernarus crisis.
